Career
My career has included leadership roles such as Scientific Director of Chemistry at Kaiser Permanente and Associate Director of Chemistry at the University of Washington Medical Center. Most recently, I served as the Associate Laboratory Director at LetsGetChecked, where I helped design innovative laboratory solutions to support telehealth medical services.
Through my work with these organizations and others, I have extensive experience navigating the complex regulatory landscape that governs laboratory medicine, with a mature familiarity of the CLIA licensing, College of American Pathologists (CAP) or comparable accreditation, and FDA 510(k) regulatory pathways. I utilize this expertise to help clinical laboratories and healthcare organizations remain compliant with evolving regulatory requirements, ensuring that they can deliver accurate, high-quality diagnostic services while mitigating risk and maintaining operational efficiency.
Academic Experience
Since 2014 I have been a faculty member in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at the University of Washington where I currently serve as a Clinical Professor. During my tenure, I’ve published over 135 peer-reviewed articles that span a wide range of critical aspects related to Laboratory Medicine. Many of these publications focus on improving healthcare outcomes for underserved populations, particularly in the areas of transgender and gender-diverse healthcare, home-based testing, and analytical advancements in clinical laboratory science.
Scientific Writing
I am enthusiastic about communicating complex concepts to diverse audiences. Whether engaging with academic peers, healthcare professionals, or the public, I am passionate about making scientific knowledge accessible and impactful.
